Eben Bayer & Gavin McIntyre have invented packing material made from mushrooms.

Eben Bayer & Gavin McIntyre,  two recent Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduates, have invented a packing material made from mushrooms. It's a biodegradable alternative to Styrofoam that needs 10 times less energy to be made. Called EcoCradle, it's made from a concoction of water, flour, mushroom roots and seed husks. Their company, Ecovative, has also churned out an organic insulation material called Greensulate.
